Brooks Hill Reserve Loop

Just outside Bungendore, off the Kings Highway, the Brooks Hill Reserve Loop takes you 3.2 km through remnant box-gum grassy woodland. It is a quiet bush walk with wildflowers and plenty of birdlife, and a good nature fix without a big climb.

Lead rules

Dogs are allowed, and they must be kept on lead. The reserve is Crown land set aside for environmental protection, so the rule is about the wildlife that lives here.

The walk

The track is natural dirt, with uneven ground and gentle slopes. The loop gains about 88 metres, enough to feel it but not a hard slog.

Tree cover shades most of the way, which keeps it comfortable in the warmer months. You park at the Brooks Hill Rest Area, where there are public toilets.

Max: Do not count on taps or bins along the loop. Carry water for the dog and pack out every bag.
