Dandeleo Dog Park

Dandeleo Dog Park is Bungendore's local off-leash run, a stretch of open grass beside Turallo Creek on Turallo Terrace, next to the town's playground and skate park. It is unfenced, so it suits dogs with solid recall rather than escape artists, and it makes a genuinely useful stretch-the-legs stop on the Canberra to Braidwood route.

Leash status

There is no perimeter fence, so off-leash time happens at your discretion and under your supervision. Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council's off-lead rules apply across its reserves: dogs must be under effective control at all times, wear a collar with current ID tags, and you must carry bags and pick up immediately. Waste bag dispensers are provided on site. Given how close the park sits to the playground, skate park and residential streets, voice control matters as much for other park users as for your dog's safety.

Max: unfenced means recall matters more than usual here. If your dog is still working on it, keep the lead on and use the space for a wander instead of an off-lead sprint.

Water and terrain

Mature trees shade the grassed area, and the adjoining creek is a bonus splash spot when water levels allow, though flow depends on recent weather, so do not count on a swim. There is no tap water mentioned on site, so bring a bowl and your own supply.

Getting there and parking

The park sits on Turallo Terrace just off the Bungendore Road (B52). Street parking along Turallo Terrace is generally easy, and Bungendore railway station is within walking distance if you are coming up from Queanbeyan or Canberra without the car.

Worth knowing

Weekday mornings and early afternoons are the quietest times; Saturday mornings, Wednesday afternoons and Sunday evenings see the most local traffic. Treat it as a good country-town stop rather than a destination park, and keep an eye out toward Turallo Creek and the road side with a young dog.

Close by with the dogs

Malbon Street and Gibraltar Street in the town centre are a five to ten minute walk away. Flock at the Carrington serves a proper feed with a beer garden for well-behaved dogs, and the Bungendore Showground and camping/caravanning park is the handy overnight option with the dog.
