Dandeleo Dog Park

Dandeleo Dog Park is Bungendore's local off-leash spot, a stretch of open grass beside a creek on Turallo Terrace, right next to the town's playground and skate park. It is unfenced, so it suits dogs with solid recall rather than escape artists, but for a country town off-leash run it is a genuinely useful stop.

The rules. There is no perimeter fence, so dogs are off-leash at their owner's discretion and supervision. Waste bag dispensers are provided on site and cleanup is expected. Because the park sits close to the playground, skate park and residential streets, keep dogs under voice control around other park users.

What's there. Mature trees give natural shade over the grassed area, and the adjoining creek is a bonus splash spot when water levels allow, though flow depends on recent weather so check before counting on a swim. Waste bags are supplied but bring your own water bowl, as none is mentioned on site.

Getting there. The park is just off Bungendore Road (B52) on Turallo Terrace, an easy stop if you are passing through on the Canberra to Braidwood route. Bungendore railway station is within walking distance. Street parking along Turallo Terrace is generally easy to find.

Nearby with the dogs. Malbon Street in the town centre is a five to ten minute walk and has several cafes with outdoor seating, plus the Lake George Hotel nearby.

Weekday mornings and early afternoons are the quietest times to visit; Saturday mornings, Wednesday afternoons and Sunday evenings see the most local traffic. Good for a stretch-the-legs stop rather than a destination in itself.
