Booragoon Lake Reserve

Booragoon Lake Reserve is a small urban wetland just over the Myaree line in Booragoon. It is a flat, paved lap of the water, and the City of Melville keeps it on lead at all times.

The walk

The sealed path circles open water fringed with paperbarks. Expect cormorants, ibis and other waterbirds, and there is a bird viewing platform on the south side.

Trees shade parts of the loop, but stretches along Leach Highway are exposed. Free street parking is available around the access points.

Lead rules

There is no off-lead area here. Dogs stay leashed for the whole lap, which also keeps them away from the birds.

Water for dogs is limited on the loop, so bring your own.

Grab something at Delicious Fingers, or give your dog a run at Kadidjiny Park.

Flat and paved, this lap suits older dogs and short legs. Go early on hot days, when the highway side has little shade.
