Bonython Park / Tulya Wardli

Bonython Park, also known as Tulya Wardli or Park 27, is one of the Adelaide Park Lands' big off-leash spaces, set along the River Torrens under old river red gums where the park lands meet North Adelaide, Adelaide and Hindmarsh.

Leads and the off-lead area

The City of Adelaide lets dogs off lead across most of the park, under effective control. Put the lead back on within 5 metres of play equipment and near organised sport.

The olive grove used for police horse agistment is off limits to dogs, so steer clear of it.

The walk

Sealed paths run beside the river, and the short Bunyip Trail adds compacted and gravel tracks. The ground is flat, with wide lawns and big shade trees.

Toilets, barbecues, picnic areas and plenty of parking are spread through the park, and a tram stop is nearby.

Pepsi: Café Bonython is inside the park and welcomes dogs, often with a treat on the side.

Weekday mornings are quieter, and the shade makes summer walks easier than on the open parklands.
