Kalang Park

Kalang Park is the longest stretch of the Blackburn Creeklands, following Gardiners Creek between Pakenham Road and Main Street in Blackburn. Wide, level gravel paths run along both sides of the creek under tall native eucalypts.

Lead rules

Whitehorse City Council requires dogs on a lead at all times. Dogs are not allowed in the creek or in the wetland billabong areas.

Max: The creek looks inviting, but it is off limits to dogs here. Bring your own water and a bowl instead.

The walk

The flat paths suit dogs and walkers of every mobility level, and the canopy gives good shade. Birdlife is the main entertainment.

The park links straight into Blacks Walk and Furness Park, so you can stretch the outing along the creeklands chain.

Make a day of it

For off-lead time, Nicoll Park Dog Off Leash Area is nearby. Battle is a handy coffee stop.

When to go

Shade makes it a good summer choice. It suits owners and dogs who like a calm, predictable on-lead walk.
