The Loop Trail, Flinders University

The Loop Trail is a bush circuit on Flinders University's main campus at Bedford Park, in Adelaide's south, not in Flinders Park. It is an easy walk of about 2.1 kilometres, and dogs are welcome on lead.

Lead rules

Flinders University manages the campus tracks, and dogs must stay on a lead at all times. Bring your own poo bags, as bins on the trail itself are sparse.

The walk

Wide, rough dirt tracks and footbridges carry you through native scrub, a tall pine plantation and the shaded Sturt Creek gully. Tree cover shades much of the loop.

There is no dog water along the track, so carry some with you.

Max: The nearest bins are by the buildings and car parks. Pack enough bags and carry them out.

Getting started

Reach the trail via the university Ring Road. Parking near the bus interchange and Carpark 6, opposite the main creek bridge, is handy, with free and paid bays across the campus.

The shade makes it a fair choice on warmer days. It suits dogs who walk well on lead and like a sniff through the bush.
