Bayswater Park

Bayswater Park, formally Marie Wallace Bayswater Park, pairs a flat concrete loop around the oval with open grass where dogs can run off lead. The trick is knowing when to clip on.

Leads and the off-lead area

Max: The walking loop is lead-on even though the grass beside it is not. Clip on at the path, unclip on the oval.

Knox City Council allows dogs off lead on the reserve's designated oval areas, including oval 2, as long as they are under effective control.

Dogs must be leashed on the shared concrete paths and within 20 metres of playground equipment.

Around the oval

The concrete track circles the main oval and suits prams and wheelchairs. Mature trees along the edges give some shade, and the adventure playground features a decommissioned steam locomotive.

Bubblers are near the playground and pavilion, so that is a lead-on stop. Bins sit by the pavilion on the north side of oval 2, and there is parking near the pavilion.

When to go

This suits dogs with reliable recall, since the off-lead grass sits right beside the playground and paths. Owners who like a mix of on-lead laps and off-lead play will get the most from it.
