Glen Park Dog Off Leash Area

Glen Park is a Maroondah council reserve at 30 Glen Park Road, Bayswater North, with off-leash access across a large flat sports oval ringed by cottage gardens that give sniffers something to do along the perimeter. It is a straightforward local spot for running and ball games, best suited to dogs with dependable recall.

The dog setup

Dogs are off-leash across the oval except during organised sport, when the ground reverts to players and dogs stay off. Maroondah rules require effective voice and signal control at all times, and dogs stay on-leash within 15 metres of the playground, barbecue areas and play equipment. The off-leash area is unfenced and open to the car park and road, so watch the boundary rather than assuming a fence will do it for you. Pick up after your dog and use the bins near the car park.

Max: Check the sport fixture before a weekend trip. When the oval is booked, your off-leash run shrinks to zero.

Amenities are solid for a suburban reserve: on-site parking, a water tap (no bowl, so pack a collapsible one), shaded seating and tables, and public toilets. A playground, tennis courts and a learner's bike track round out the reserve, which makes it a busy shared space on weekends.

Getting there

Access is via Glen Park Road with ample on-site parking. Some buses serve the surrounding Bayswater North area, but the park is best reached by car or on foot from the surrounding streets.

Make a day of it

The Gracedale Park Dog Off Leash Area is the other off-leash ground in Bayswater North, and the Bede Spillane Reserve Fenced Dog Park at Croydon is the closest fully enclosed option. For a coffee after the run, Blackwork at Croydon has a big outdoor seating area popular with local dogs, and Cafe ONE 88 is a Bayswater North option close by.
