Glen Park is a Maroondah council reserve at 30 Glen Park Road, off-leash across a large flat sports oval with cottage gardens around the perimeter for sniffing. It is a straightforward local spot for running and ball games, best suited to dogs with dependable recall.

The rules. Off-leash across the oval except during organised sport. Dogs stay on-leash within 15 metres of the playground, BBQ areas and play equipment, and must be under effective voice control at all times. The off-leash area is unfenced and open to the car park and road, so keep an eye on the boundary. Pick up after your dog, with bins near the car park.

What's there. On-site parking, a water tap (no bowl, so pack a collapsible one), shaded seating and tables, and public toilets. A playground, tennis courts and a learner's bike track round out the reserve.

Getting there. Accessed via Glen Park Road with ample on-site parking. Some buses serve the surrounding Bayswater North area, but the park is best reached by car or on foot.

When to go. Late afternoons from 4pm to 6pm and weekends are busiest, particularly when no sport is booked. Weekday mornings and early afternoons are quieter if your dog wants more room. Good for big runners who come back when called.
