Lake Goegrup Boardwalk

The boardwalk at Lake Goegrup starts from Koolyanga Reserve, off Koolyanga Place on the Greenfields and Barragup border in Mandurah. It is an on-lead wetland walk with an off-lead area at the start.

Leads and the off-lead area

Koolyanga Reserve has a designated dog off-leash area, handy for a run before or after the walk. On the Lake Goegrup Boardwalk itself, dogs must stay on a lead to protect the wetland.

The walk

An elevated timber boardwalk joins sections of compacted natural track. It crosses shallow wetland and fragile samphire flats beside the Serpentine River.

Pelicans, ducks and other waterbirds work the shallows, so it pays to go slowly.

Max: The samphire flats are fragile and full of birds. Keep your dog on the boardwalk and on the lead.

Make a day of it

The Joseph and Dulcie Nannup Trail is another walk in the area, and Muzz Buzz - Mandurah does a quick coffee on the way home.

When to go

Bring water for the dog. The boardwalk suits calm dogs, and the off-lead area lets energetic ones burn off steam first.
