Angas River Walk

Strathalbyn's riverside path, signposted as the River Angas Walkway, is flat, mostly sealed and shaded by old trees for much of its length. Dogs are welcome on a lead no longer than two metres.

The walk

It follows the Angas River through the heart of this heritage town, about five kilometres there and back. You pass historic bridges and green parkland, with birdlife along the water.

The surface is sealed for most of the way, so it stays comfortable for older dogs and prams alike.

Lead rules

Alexandrina Council requires dogs on a lead of up to two metres and under effective control on public walkways and reserves. Strathalbyn has no fenced off-leash park, so this is an on-lead town walk.

Getting started

There is free parking around the town centre, close to several access points. The path runs right through town, so bins and facilities are never far off, but carry a bowl and water for the dog.

Pair it with

Add a lap of the nearby Soldier's Memorial Gardens, which is also on-lead.

The tree canopy makes this a good warm-weather option. Flat and sealed, it suits dogs of every age.
