Seven Inn

Seven Inn is a renovated motel at 3935 Sturt Highway in Gumly Gumly, just east of Wagga Wagga, and a genuinely practical dog stop: dogs of any size sleep inside the room with you rather than in an outside pen, there is a grassy area at the back for the after-drive leg stretch, and the fee runs around AU$20 per pet per night.

Dogs of all sizes are welcome in designated pet-friendly rooms, generally for about $20 a night. Dogs stay leashed outside the room, are not left unattended inside, and stay off the furniture, so bring your own bedding or blankets. Generally only dogs are accepted, and the smart move is to mention the dog when booking and confirm the current fee and room availability directly with the motel, since aggregator listings can drift out of date.

Max: grass out the back is the difference between a good overnight stop and a bad one. Leash on outside the door, own bedding on the floor, everyone sleeps.

The place

The rooms have been newly renovated and reviewers consistently flag them as clean, modern and comfortable, with good showers and friendly owners. The motel sits set back from the Sturt Highway traffic in Gumly Gumly, which keeps it quieter than its address suggests, with easy parking at the door.

Getting there

It is on the Sturt Highway a few minutes east of central Wagga Wagga, an easy stop if you are driving between the Riverina and the Hume. Central Wagga is a short drive for dinner and supplies.
