Chaston Pet Hub

Chaston Pet Hub is Wagga Wagga's dedicated fenced dog park, a council off-leash space on Chaston Street in the Turvey Park and Tolland pocket. It is fully enclosed with a gated entry, so it works for dogs who need a secure run rather than an open oval, and it is built for exactly that: open grass, gates that close behind you, and nothing to bolt towards.

The dog setup

The enclosure has secure perimeter fencing with a gated entry, waste bags and bins on site, and a wheelchair-accessible entrance. Trees around the grassed area throw some shade, but coverage is patchy on hot afternoons, and there is no confirmed water supply, so pack your own water and a bowl. Use of the park is limited to daylight hours.

Wagga Wagga City Council's off-leash rules apply. Dogs stay on lead until you are inside the gates, then run off-leash under effective voice control. Every dog needs to be lifetime registered and wearing a collar with current ID tags. Declared dangerous, menacing and restricted-breed dogs are not permitted, and owners are responsible for their dog's behaviour, so harassment or rough play needs to be stopped straight away. Pick up after your dog and use the bins provided.

Max: Wait a beat at the gate before letting your dog in. If the park already has a group of dogs mid-game, a settled entrance beats an excitable one.

Worth knowing

The hub sits on Chaston Street in Wagga Wagga's inner south, handy for Turvey Park and Tolland residents and an easy drive from most of the city. Street parking is available along Chaston Street and the surrounding blocks, and local bus routes cover the area if you would rather walk a block or two from a stop.

If your dog prefers playing in company, a second fenced option is the Narrung Street Fenced Dog Park closer to the city side of Wagga, and for a bigger outing the Lake Albert Dog Park adds a lakeside walk to the run.

Make a day of it

After a session in the yard, The Brew Wagga on Coleman Street in Turvey Park keeps a relaxed grassy backyard where dogs are welcome, and it is a short drive from the park.
