Narrung Street Fenced Dog Park

Narrung Street Fenced Dog Park is a fully enclosed off-leash strip in South Wagga Wagga, on the southern edge of the Wiradjuri Golf Centre driving range near the Narrung and Moorong Street intersection. It is a long, narrow run built for straight-line sprints rather than sprawling social play, and Wagga Wagga City Council lists it among the city's designated off-lead areas.

The rules

Off-lead applies inside the fence, with dogs under effective voice control at all times. Keep your dog on lead until the gate is closed behind you, bag waste immediately and use the bins provided. There is no separate small dog enclosure here: all sizes share the one perimeter, so that is worth knowing before you bring a timid dog. Walk the fence line before unclipping, because maintenance of the perimeter has been a recurring complaint from users.

The setup

Basic, and plan around it. Fenced perimeter and waste bins, and that is about the list. No water tap, so carry water and a bowl in. Shade and seating are both very limited, which matters in a Riverina summer when the ground heats up fast.

Max: a straight runway for flat-out sprinting suits me fine, but walk the fence line before you unclip, and carry water in, because there is no tap on site.

Getting there

Narrung Street, South Wagga Wagga, about a five minute drive from the CBD, with street parking along the road outside. The golf driving range next door is the easiest landmark.

When to go

Open 24 hours. Quietest mid-morning or early afternoon on weekdays; early mornings and late afternoons, especially on weekends, are the busy windows. Given the linear shape, even a few dogs can make it feel full, so the quiet windows genuinely change the experience.
