qtQT Cabins

qtQT Cabins is the small compound of standalone cabins on the rooftop terrace level of the QT Gold Coast hotel at 7 Staghorn Avenue, and it runs the hotel's Pup Yeah! program, which makes it one of the few genuinely dog-forward stays on the Gold Coast. Think private cabin, fire pit and skyline views, with a designer dog bed waiting inside.

Dogs at the cabins

One dog per cabin, and the preference is for dogs under 25kg, with larger dogs sometimes accepted after a pre-arrival assessment, so call ahead if yours is a heavyweight. The Pup Yeah! package bundles the pet fee, which has been reported around $120 covering up to a three-night stay with a nightly charge thereafter, and includes orthopedic dog bedding, bowls, a welcome treat and an in-room pet dining menu. Confirm the current fee and inclusions when you book. Dogs must be fully house-trained, stay leashed or carried in public areas, and are kept out of restaurants, the gym and the pool. Do not plan on leaving a dog alone in the cabin for long stretches.

The vibe

A handful of cabins sharing a private terrace, lounge and fire pit, finished in QT's playful coastal style: big windows, private patios, a rooftop garden and handwritten welcome cards. Reviewers rate it peaceful for somewhere so central, with the beach and the main dining precinct a short walk away.

Pepsi: a memory-foam bed, a treat at turndown and a chef-made menu of my own. The humans can fight over the fire pit.

Getting there and parking

Staghorn Avenue sits just off the beachfront in the middle of the strip, about 30 minutes from Gold Coast Airport, with the G:link light rail close by. Hotel parking is available on site.

Close by with the dogs
