Paradise Bungalow

This waterfront, self-contained bungalow at 153 Walmer Avenue in Sanctuary Point sits directly on the shore of St Georges Basin on the Jervis Bay coast, and it takes dogs at no extra fee with a fenced off-lead area on the property. For a couple travelling with a dog or two, that combination is the headline.

The pet policy

Up to two dogs are welcome, capped at 20 kg each, with no pet fee charged. Dogs are allowed indoors and cannot be left unattended at the property, which matters if your itinerary involves day trips where the dog stays home. Cats are not accepted. Food and water bowls are provided, and the undercover balcony carries a dog bed and kennel as well.

The place

A large, waist-height fully fenced garden runs level down to the water, so the dog can be off lead from the moment you arrive rather than waiting for a beach walk. The house itself is a four-bedroom self-contained cottage, sized more for families than couples, with the water views doing most of the decorating.

Getting there

Sanctuary Point sits between Nowra and Huskisson, about 25 minutes south of Nowra. Once you are there, the Basin Foreshore Walk gives you an on-lead waterside path linking the local beaches along the shoreline, and the Clifton Park Fenced Dog Park is a short drive for a proper off-lead run.
