Clifton Park Fenced Dog Park(Sanctuary Point)

Clifton Park is a fully fenced, 24 hour off leash dog park at the back of Clifton Park in Sanctuary Point, on the shores of St Georges Basin. The draw is simple: a large grassy run secured by a double gate airlock, so you can let a dog off the lead without watching the road.

The dog setup

Inside the fence, dogs can run off lead provided they stay under the control of a competent person at all times. Restricted breeds and any dog declared dangerous or menacing are not permitted, every dog should wear a collar with an ID tag, and waste goes in the bin. There is no separate pen for small or timid dogs, so read the crowd before you open the inner gate. Keep your dog leashed through the front sections of the park near the playground and learn to ride area, and only unclip once you reach the enclosure at the rear.

Worth knowing

The park is well set up for a proper session: tall trees throw real shade, an automatic running water bowl covers the hydration, and a small agility course gives you something to train with. Bench seating lines the fence. The weak point is the ground, which turns to mud fast after heavy rain, and the grass can be patchy, so a towel in the boot earns its place here.

Getting there and parking

The fenced area sits off Clifton Street, a short hop from the main roads through Sanctuary Point, with accessible parking right beside the fence. There are no set hours, so access comes down to daylight and the company in the run.

More walks nearby

The Huskisson to Vincentia Shared Path is a short drive north for a long paved on lead walk, and the Basin foreshore around Sanctuary Point does a flat on lead stroll between the local beach reserves. For coffee after the run, Portside Cafe in Huskisson welcomes dogs outdoors, and Holiday Haven Huskisson Beach is a dog friendly base if you are staying over.

Max: Do a lap of the fence line before you unclip. Check both gates are latched and clock who else is in there, so a mismatched play group does not catch you out.

It is busiest Saturday mornings and weekday afternoons; a Sunday afternoon or Friday morning buys elbow room and a calmer group. Best for social dogs of any size that cope in a mixed run.
