Casa Nostra Motel is a pet-friendly motel on Yaamba Road in Parkhurst, on the northern edge of Rockhampton, and it runs one of the more clearly documented pet policies of any stay in the area, right down to a scoop-and-bin rule and a swept-floor checkout.

The pet policy. Dogs are welcome, up to two per room, but only in the King Villa or Standard Two Bedroom Villa rooms. A pet fee of AU$25 per dog per night applies, plus a $100 security bond. Dogs must not be left unattended in rooms, are not allowed in the pool or BBQ areas, and must be leashed at all times on motel grounds. Waste must be picked up and binned, and rooms need to be swept before departure (brooms and dustpans are provided).

The place. Villa-style rooms with kitchenettes, modern fit-outs and comfortable beds, plus a pool and BBQ area for guests (dog-free zones). Bring your own bedding and bowls.

Getting there. The motel is at 805 Yaamba Road, Parkhurst, directly on the highway and easy to spot from the road, with free off-street parking.

Nearby with the dogs. Edenbrook Park on Edenbrook Drive is close by for a walk. Rockhampton Regional Council off-leash areas including Eddie Baker Park in Norman Gardens and Kershaw Gardens (which also has walking paths and a waterfall) are a short drive away. The Parkhurst Tavern is a nearby option if you want a meal after settling in.

When to go. A reliable pick for travellers who want a clearly stated pet policy rather than a vague one, book the villa rooms ahead since only two room types take dogs.
