Norval Park Beach Camp

Norval Park Beach Camp is a rustic bush campground near Yandaran, about 40 minutes north of Bundaberg, sitting behind the dunes of a long, unpatrolled stretch of coast. It is the low-frills end of camping: unpowered, shaded sites, a handful of neighbours, and the sound of surf through the trees. Dogs are welcome, which makes it one of the region's simplest ways to holiday with the whole household.

Dogs at the campground

Dogs are permitted at a maximum of two per campsite, with no extra pet fee. Bundaberg Regional Council's conditions require them confined to your site or on a leash and under control at all times, and they must not pester other campers or wildlife. Cleanup is on you. Book the low-cost camping permit through the council's booking platform before you arrive; there is no walk-up system.

Worth knowing

Come fully self-sufficient. There are no powered sites, no showers and no drinking water, only flushing toilets, a covered day-use shelter with picnic tables, and a skip bin at the entrance. Campfires are allowed in the designated fire pits with your own firewood, subject to fire bans, and generators may run between 6am and 8pm. Sites suit tents and camper trailers. Beach camping is prohibited, so camp behind the dunes and visit the sand on foot.

The beach

The beach is a short walk away, with four-wheel-drive access points for those running a capable vehicle along the sand. It is unpatrolled, so currents deserve respect when a dog swims, and marine stingers and washed-up fishing line are possible after weather. Four-wheel drives do use the beach, so keep the dog close where vehicles travel.

Getting there

From Bundaberg, head north on Rosedale Road, through Yandaran on Yandaran Road, then left onto South Littabella Road, which becomes gravel Norval Park Road for the final stretch. Allow extra time in dry sandy conditions.
