Molong Caravan Park

Molong Caravan Park is a council-run park right in town, a short walk from Molong's main street. Dogs are welcome on the powered and unpowered sites and in the on-site vans, which makes it a practical overnight stop if you're touring the Central West with a dog in the rig. The trade-off is simple: leave the cabins for another trip, because pets are not allowed in them.

The park is operated by Cabonne Council and managed remotely, with pin-code entry rather than a staffed office. That means the pet rules are worth confirming directly: no size limits are published, and pet fees are handled by the booking team rather than listed publicly. Once you're settled, the ground rules are the usual ones: keep your dog on a lead around the park, pick up after them, and don't leave them alone if they're prone to making noise about it.

Worth knowing

Reviewers consistently call out the clean amenities block, the free laundry and the shade from mature trees around the grounds. The supermarket is an easy walk, so topping up the dog food and your own supplies doesn't need a drive. Two things to factor in: the park sits close to the Mitchell Highway and the rail line, so some sites get road or train noise, and campfires are part of the appeal in cooler months. Book a site rather than a cabin if the dog is coming.

The park is at the corner of Hill Street and Watson Street, just off the Mitchell Highway on Molong's southern side. Drive-through sites suit larger rigs, and grass and hard-stand options cover tents through to caravans and motorhomes.

Close by with the dogs

Molong is compact enough to walk with the dog on a lead. Dr Ross Memorial Recreation Ground along the highway has shaded trees, picnic tables and a creek-side stretch that works for an on-lead leg-stretch, and Rotary Park on Marsden Street is another leafy stop.
