Clements House is a renovated historic homestead set among vineyards, with listings describing the large property as fully fenced, so a dog can be outside safely without constant supervision. Hillside House sits privately on a gentle hill with sweeping vineyard views around it.

The vibe

These are whole houses for families or groups, not apartments, with vineyards on the doorstep and walking country all around. Clements House sits right next door to The Currant Shed restaurant and Shottesbrooke Vineyards, and Hugo Wines is another cellar door close by.

Worth knowing

Wine region etiquette matters here: dogs are generally welcome outside at cellar doors on a lead but not inside tasting rooms, and rules vary by property, so ring ahead for each one. Before you book, confirm which house you are getting, any pet fee, and the off-limits indoor areas so you can pack the right bedding.

Getting there and parking

McLaren Flat is around 40 minutes south of Adelaide via the Southern Expressway, with McLaren Vale's main strip a few minutes' drive. Off-street parking comes with each house.
