Flagstaff Estate

Flagstaff Estate is a resort-style group property on 10 acres of semi-rural bushland at 277 Flagstaff Gully Road, Lindisfarne, right beside the Meehan Ranges and about eight minutes from the Hobart CBD. It sleeps up to 16 across six bedrooms and takes one dog per stay with prior approval, though because it doubles as a wedding and events venue, the pet policy is tighter than a standard holiday rental.

Dogs at the Flagstaff Estate

Dogs must be declared at the time of booking so the owners can assess and approve the stay. The general limit is one dog per booking, though a second may be approved for short stays with prior consent. A pet fee of $150 per booking covers the excess cleaning. Dogs cannot be left unattended at the property, are prohibited from the pool and spa area, and must be kept on a leash outside, with waste bagged and binned. Confirm the approval and fee directly with the owners ahead of time, since terms can vary by season and length of stay.

Max: Read the pool and spa exclusion twice before you arrive. It is an easy rule to forget with a water-loving dog, and the grounds around the barn are a better bet for stretching legs.

The place

The estate has a heated indoor pool and spa that run year round, a barn used for catered gatherings and micro-weddings, a tennis court and a fire pit area. Inside are six bedrooms and three bathrooms with a curated, modern-luxury finish, so expect a premium group house rather than a rustic pet-friendly cottage. Straight out the back fence, the Meehan Ranges offer bushwalking and mountain biking tracks that suit a leashed morning walk before the day starts.

Close by with the dogs

For an off-leash run, South Street Reserve fenced dog park at Bellerive is a few minutes away, and Cambridge Dog Park sits handy to the airport side of town. In Lindisfarne itself, Glass Garden By The Bay is the local dining option, and Cocomo+Co does coffee over the bridge road in Bellerive.
