Godolphin Country Accommodation

Godolphin Country Accommodation is a working sheep and cattle property settled by Cornish families in the 1850s, at Guyong on the Central Tablelands, roughly 35 minutes from Bathurst and 20 minutes from Orange. Two self-contained conversions, The Stables and The Dairy, sit on the farm, and dogs are considered case by case if you talk to the owners before booking.

This is a small, family-run property with a handful of reviews, so treat the pet policy as a conversation rather than a guarantee. Dogs approved in advance are allowed inside the accommodation during a stay, but given the working farm setting they need to stay under control at all times. Confirm any pet fee and the house rules on furniture and bedrooms when you book, since none of this is published outright, and get the approval in writing. Bring your own bowls, bedding and water containers; nothing is provided.

The accommodation

The Stables and The Dairy are converted from the property's original rustic Cornish-style buildings, and both are self-catering, so you shop and cook for yourself. The Stables is the larger of the two. The setting is the draw: open ground around the buildings, quiet nights, and a three-acre garden to walk through rather than a fenced dog run.

Getting there

The property sits at 368 Gordon Road, Guyong, just off the Mitchell Highway, with on-site parking. The final approach is a dirt road with the odd pothole, so take it slowly and aim to arrive in daylight. Call ahead with your arrival time given how rural the property is.

Close by with the dogs

Millthorpe, about 10 kilometres away, is a dog-friendly historic village with outdoor cafe seating, and the Angullong Wines cellar door sits in the village itself; call ahead to confirm dogs on the day. For a meal, The Old Mill Cafe and Restaurant is the village anchor. If you want a run for the dog, Macquarie Woods Forestry Reserve Campground is in the same district, and Blayney Tourist Park is the fallback stop over the hill.
