Several third-party booking platforms, however, list The Colliefields as taking dogs and cats for a flat fee of AUD 30 per stay, with food and water bowls and a dog exercise area included. Those two positions cannot both be current, and we could not reconcile them. Call the hotel directly on (08) 9734 1409 before booking anything around your dog, and get whatever they tell you in writing. If you are relying on the pet-friendly reading, confirm the fee is per stay rather than per night, whether any rooms are excluded, and the rules about leaving animals unattended.

Rooms are simple and clean with comfortable beds, and the common areas give the hotel a homely feel rather than a motel-corridor one. It also caters well for coeliac guests, useful if breakfast is part of your stay. The property sits in Collie township within walking reach of the town's cafes and amenities.

Getting there and what is nearby

Collie is about two hours south of Perth via the Coalfields Highway, and the hotel is on the main street. The town is the base for the Collie River Valley: Wellington Dam, the river pools and the mural trails are all a short drive out.
