Tothy Brothers Deli

Tothy Brothers Deli is a house-smoked meats deli and restaurant at Shop 4, 180 South Creek Road in Wheeler Heights, on Sydney's Northern Beaches, and it has become one of the peninsula's most talked-about sandwich stops. Brothers Blake and Sean Toth cure and smoke their own pastrami, and dogs are a regular sight at the undercover outdoor terrace out front.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome on the outdoor, undercover terrace on lead, where casual seating puts your dog right beside the table. Staff are known for being accommodating, and some visitors report being invited to bring a calm dog indoors, but treat that as a decision for the team on the day rather than a standing rule. Dog treats appear often enough to mention, though it is worth confirming on arrival, and carrying your own water bowl is the safe play.

Worth knowing: the menu

The Reuben is the headliner, stacked with hot house-smoked pastrami, melted cheese and sauerkraut on thick toasted rye, and it regularly gets called one of Sydney's best. The Philly cheesesteak, brisket breakfast burritos, waffle fries and smash burgers fill out the menu, with rotating specials and evening feeds on selected nights. Doors open 6am weekdays and 7am Sundays, and the morning rush on weekends fills the small strip fast, so weekday lunches are the relaxed option for a terrace table.

Max: House-smoked pastrami means the terrace smells incredible and I get to sit in it. This is my kind of deli.

Getting there and parking

The deli sits in the South Creek Road shops in Wheeler Heights, with free street parking along South Creek Road and a free car park nearby. It is a short drive from Narrabeen and the Collaroy beaches.

Close by with the dogs

St Matthews Farm Reserve at Cromer has a designated off-leash zone, though dogs stay leashed outside the marked areas and clear of the sports fields. The South Narrabeen trail from Wheeler Heights is the on-leash walk that links the suburb to the lake, and Griffith Park dog park at Collaroy is the fenced option down the road. For a coffee before the walk, Coffee Lane at Cromer is dog friendly too.
