Fuego by the Sea

Fuego by the Sea is a beachfront charcoal grill at 9 Barcoo Road in West Beach, inside the West Beach Parks precinct, cooking Argentinian, Spanish and Italian dishes over a large charcoal grill with open water views from the alfresco and balcony seating. Salt and pepper squid, empanadas, fish and chips and creme brulee fill the menu, live music rolls through at times, and the sunset over the Gulf is the headline act. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, which are also the best seats in the house.

Dogs sit with you in the alfresco and balcony area on a lead; the indoor dining room is dog-free under standard food rules, assistance dogs excepted. Water bowls are not always out, so bring a portable bowl. Book ahead and ask specifically for an outdoor table, because the dog-friendly seats and the view are the same seats.

Trading is daytime-focused: the kitchen serves into the early afternoon, closing mid-afternoon, and the listings differ on whether Monday and Tuesday trade at all, so check before a late visit. A long seaside lunch rather than a dinner is the natural format here.

Fuego sits on Barcoo Road within the West Beach Parks precinct, with side-street parking around Barcoo Road and walkable paths through the precinct's lawns, where dogs stay on lead. The coastal shared path along the dunes passes close by.
