Burger Hounds

Burger Hounds is a small gourmet burger shop at 1 Redleaf Avenue in the Wahroonga village, right by the train line. It is a casual, mostly takeaway operation with a few footpath tables out front, and dogs are welcome at that pavement seating, so a burger run with the dog is part of the routine here rather than an exception.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the footpath tables in front of the shop; there is no indoor seating for dogs because the shop itself is small and counter-service. Staff are accommodating and often bring water out, but carry your own bowl to be safe. Keep your dog close, as Redleaf Avenue gets foot traffic from the station.

Worth knowing

The menu runs to wagyu burgers, chicken burgers, German kransky hot dogs, poutine, mac and cheese, hand-cut chips and milkshakes, and reviewers rate the patties highly. Hours are Wednesday to Friday 11am to 8pm and weekends 11am to 3pm, with Monday and Tuesday closed, so plan around the midweek break. Weekend afternoons pause between the lunch and dinner sessions.

Getting there and parking

Street parking runs along Redleaf Avenue and nearby streets, and the Coles car park, entered via Illoura Avenue, is usually the easiest option. Wahroonga Station is a very short walk away, so coming by train and walking in with the dog works well.

Close by with the dogs
