Berry World PYO Strawberries and Berry Good Thai Restaurant

Berry World is a working strawberry farm and licensed Thai restaurant sharing one property at 26 Egan Street on the edge of Timboon, a short hop off the Great Ocean Road route. The combination is unusual: pick-your-own strawberries in season, house-made jams and sauces, strawberry wine, then a proper Thai kitchen turning out pad thai, tom yum and crying tiger. Dogs are part of the picture here, with leashed dogs welcome around the farm and outdoor areas.

The dog setup

Your dog joins you on the outdoor deck and seating, and can walk the farm grounds with you while you pick. Visitors report leashed dogs being welcomed right out into the strawberry rows, which few picking farms allow. Only certified assistance dogs can come into the indoor dining room, per standard Victorian food rules. Keep your dog tight on the lead and clear of the crop beds where picking hygiene applies, and bring your own travel bowl because outdoor water is not guaranteed.

Max: strawberry picking season runs roughly October to Easter and the farm side closes outside that window, so ring ahead if the picking is the main draw.

Worth knowing

The kitchen trades Thai menu standards alongside the seasonal berries, and the property doubles as a producer stop on the 12 Apostles food trail. Resident farm animals, including free-ranging chickens, are often around, so a dog that is settled around poultry will have an easier time than a keen chaser. Hours run from 10am Tuesday and from 11am Wednesday to Sunday, closing at 10pm each night; Monday is closed. Weekends are busy, so book ahead or arrive early.

Getting there and parking

Free on-site parking sits right at the property, and the turn-off is clearly signed from the Timboon township. Timboon is roughly a half-hour drive inland from the Twelve Apostles, making this an easy lunch stop between coastal walks.

Close by with the dogs
