House of Fish

House of Fish is the seafood operator inside the Fort Largs Eatery & Markets, a coastal food precinct on the historic Fort Largs site at 5 Strathfield Terrace, Taperoo. The draw is premium South Australian seafood, oysters and grilled octopus, served with the ocean side of the precinct for a backdrop. For dog owners, the precinct's open-air seating is the part that matters: dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, water bowls are set out for visiting dogs, and the beach is a few minutes' walk away.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the open-air courtyard and outdoor seating areas of the Fort Largs complex, where House of Fish serves, and are not permitted inside enclosed indoor spaces. Keep your dog on a lead and settled beside the table. Water bowls are generally available for visiting dogs, though it is worth confirming on the day since the precinct also runs ticketed dinner events when the layout can change. Inside the dining room is for people only, as standard.

The food and the precinct

House of Fish is known for oysters, grilled octopus, skewers and fresh local seafood, and diners rate the presentation and the flavours. It sits alongside other vendors in the Fort Largs Eatery & Markets, so a table can mix seafood with coffee or something from the neighbouring stalls, and there are occasional live music and sunset dining events on the calendar. Hours are Wednesday to Friday 11am to 2.30pm, then Saturday and Sunday 11am to 8pm, with Monday and Tuesday closed, so the evening sessions are weekends only.

Getting there and parking

The precinct is at 5 Strathfield Terrace, Taperoo SA 5017, with street parking along the terrace and the surrounding residential streets. It sits close to the coast, and the beach end of Strathfield Terrace is an easy walk from the tables.

Close by with the dogs

The off-leash beach section running north from Strathfield Terrace toward the North Haven breakwater is close by and off-leash year-round under City of Port Adelaide Enfield rules, which makes a swim-and-lunch circuit simple. Roy Marten Fenced Dog Park on Military Road is a short drive for a fully fenced run. Ink Espresso @ The Fort shares the same precinct and is the coffee stop before or after. Sailmaster Tavern up the coast at North Haven is another outdoor-table option.
