Olympic Circuit Cafe is a fast, walk-up cafe at 1/7 Olympic Circuit in a commercial pocket of Southport, popular with early risers, tradies and cyclists. It is takeaway-focused with casual outdoor seating where dogs are welcome, so think coffee and a roll on the way past rather than a long sit-down.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables and on the footpath out front, where a lead can be tied securely to a chair or table leg, and the indoor ordering and food-prep area stays dog-free. As a busy takeaway operation, water is not a given, so bring your own bowl. The easy play is one person ordering inside while the other waits outside with the dog. Weekday mornings only, 6am to 2pm, with weekends closed, and the pre-work rush is the time to avoid if you want a stress-free stop.

The menu

The kitchen runs an all-day breakfast and lunch menu built around fast, fresh service. The Big Brekky covers crispy bacon, two fried eggs, pork sausage, baked beans, grilled tomato, chips and toast, and the Piggy toasted sandwich stacks double bacon, double egg and double cheese with BBQ sauce on inch bread. Burgers lean hearty too, with the XL Tradie Burger packing a double patty, double bacon, double cheese, double egg and an onion ring. Coffee, juices and smoothies cover the drinks side, and free local delivery runs within four kilometres if you would rather eat at the park.

Getting there

Olympic Circuit sits slightly off the beaten track in Southport's light-industrial streets. On-street parking is out front and on the nearby streets, though it fills during the weekday morning rush; outside those hours it is easy.

Close by with the dogs

Make a morning of it with a run at the Musgrave Park dog off-leash area, which is close enough to walk, or head a few minutes north to the Labrador Musgrave agility dog park. The Labrador Spit dog beach is the water option for a proper swim.
