Seven Sins Perth Hills sits high on Soldiers Road at Roleystone, about 30 to 40 minutes from the Perth CBD, with the deck looking out over the Roleystone Valley. It is a busy modern-Australian restaurant with a German lean, and dogs are welcome across the outdoor dining areas, which turns it into a natural hills day out: a walk first, then a long table on the deck.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome on the outdoor deck, balcony and garden spaces, including the casual Sunset Garden area, kept on a lead at all times. Indoors is not for dogs. The covered outdoor areas take the edge off the warmer months, and staff are known to make a fuss of visiting dogs. For the Sunset Garden itself you can generally walk in for drinks and share plates, but for a deck table off the restaurant menu, book ahead and note that you are bringing a dog so they seat you at an outdoor-accessible table.

Worth knowing

This is one of the higher-volume dining spots in the Perth Hills, and it fills up. Service splits between evening sittings midweek and lunch through Friday to Sunday, so check the current hours before you drive up. The kitchen is known for its pork knuckle, schnitzel and pork belly, with crayfish linguine and apple donuts rounding out the menu, and live music pops up regularly. Service runs mid-range to premium.

Max: This one gets loud and full on weekends. If your dog is unsettled by crowds and live music, book an early or off-peak table on the deck rather than the midday rush.

Getting there and parking

The address is 1 Soldiers Rd, Roleystone WA 6111. There is an on-site car park, but it fills quickly over weekend lunches, so arriving early or carpooling saves a wait. The drive up from Armadale through the hills is part of the appeal.

Close by with the dogs

A few minutes back down Brookton Highway, the Last Drop Elizabethan at Bedfordale is another hills venue with a dog-friendly outlook, and the Contour Channel Walk near Roleystone makes a good leg-stretcher before lunch. For coffee the next morning, Hidden Specialty Coffee in Kelmscott serves puppacinos at its front tables, and the Harber Fenced Dog Park gives dogs a proper off-lead run.
