Eight on the Beach

Eight on the Beach is the beachside restaurant on the Rockingham Beach Road foreshore strip, trading now as Rockshore Bar & Bistro according to its own website, with uninterrupted water views across to the islands. For dog owners its best feature is the fenced outdoor bar area, which makes it one of the more secure alfresco settings on the Rockingham foreshore to dine with a dog.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor, fenced cafe and bar area, a genuine plus for keeping a dog settled and contained while you eat. They are not allowed in the fully enclosed indoor dining room. Staff are usually happy to bring water out, though a spare bowl covers busy sessions. Keep your dog on a leash on the boardwalk out front, which carries plenty of foreshore foot traffic.

The menu

The kitchen runs a broad Australian menu with a seafood lean: chilli mussels, fish and chips, steak sandwiches, chicken parmigiana and breakfasts on weekend mornings, plus afternoon cocktails and beer. Hours run from 11am on weekdays and 7am on weekends through to 9pm, making it workable for breakfast, lunch or an early dinner either side of a beach walk.

Getting there and parking

The venue sits on the Rockingham Beach Road strip right on the foreshore. Free street parking runs along the road and foreshore car parks sit nearby, and both fill on weekends and warm evenings, so arrive early for a sunset table.

Close by with the dogs

The paved foreshore path out front suits an on-leash walk, but the foreshore beside the cafe strip is generally leash-only, so the nearest proper off-leash run is the Warnbro Dog Beach down the coast, with the Rockingham Fenced Dog Park as a secure inland option.
