Burgster

Burgster is a smash-burger shop at 4/10 Philippine Parade in Palm Beach, a couple of minutes back from the Gold Coast oceanfront. It has built a big local following on its burgers, and it is genuinely set up for dog owners: the covered back patio is the dog-friendly zone, and dogs are usually walked through the room to reach it.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome on the outdoor patio, the partly covered, shadier side of the venue and the spot most pet owners pick. Water bowls are often brought out, though a collapsible spare covers the rush. The room can get loud and busy at peak times, so keep your dog on a lead and tucked under the table out of the walkway while you order.

The menu

The smash patties are the headline, rated among the Gold Coast's best, alongside the Classic Ugly Burger, poutine, onion rings and an unusually broad gluten-free list that includes GF fried chicken. Mornings run to coffee and breakfast bites, and there are weekly specials such as wings on Wednesday nights and cheeseburger deals on Thursdays. Hours are split across the day and the shop is closed Monday and Tuesday, so check before you head down.

Getting there and parking

Philippine Parade sits in the backstreets off the Gold Coast Highway, a short walk from Palm Beach surf club sand. Free street parking runs along the parade and surrounding streets, with an on-site area as well, and it is easy most of the week though Friday and weekend evenings get busier.

Close by with the dogs

The Palm Beach dog off-leash beach and the Melaleuca Dog Park are both close enough to turn a burger run into a full morning. For coffee on the same strip, Barefoot Barista is a reliable pre-beach stop.
