Momo Mates Food Truck (South) pitches up at 31 The Parade, Oaklands Park, serving Nepalese street food from the window: steamed and fried momos, buff and jhol styles, chatpate and chicken sausage skewers, with a hot chili sauce that has a following of its own. It trades 3pm to 8pm daily as an early-dinner and takeaway stop.

The dog setup

There is no indoor seating at all, it is a street-side truck, so dogs are naturally part of the scene: you order and collect at the outdoor counter window and wait on the paved area with your dog on a short leash. Keep them clear of the queue when the pickup crowd builds, and bring your own water bowl because none is provided. Confirm the setup on the day, as food truck pitches and hours can shift.

Max: a street-side dumpling window three steps from an off-leash reserve. This is the greatest idea anyone has ever had.

Worth knowing

The location is the drawcard for dog walkers: the truck sits beside Oaklands Estate Reserve, where dogs can exercise off leash away from the playground and wetland edges. The Oaklands Wetland paths next door are on-lead only to protect the birdlife, so leash up for that loop.
