Druk Zomsa

Druk Zomsa on Lake Street is Perth's Bhutanese restaurant and bar, a Northbridge late-night spot that doubles as a live music and karaoke venue on weekends. It is one of the few places in the city where ema datshi and momos come with a dog-friendly outdoor table, and on quieter weeknights the room often stretches the welcome indoors too.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating, and depending on how busy the room is they are often allowed inside during quieter times, so it is worth asking on arrival. Keep the lead on and your dog settled, because the venue runs live music, DJ sets and lively late crowds, especially Friday and Saturday. Bring your own water bowl, as on-site pet provisions are minimal. If your dog is noise-sensitive, this is a weeknight venue rather than a Saturday one.

Worth knowing

The menu is genuinely Bhutanese rather than a pan-Asian approximation: ema datshi, the national dish of chillies cooked in cheese, dried beef dishes like shakam paa, sikam paa made with pork belly and chilli, pork juma sausages and handcrafted momos, plus thukpa and fried rice for milder palates. Doors open from 5pm Wednesday to Saturday, with the weekend sessions running well into the small hours. Trading days shift occasionally, so check the venue's socials before you head in.

Getting there and parking

Druk Zomsa is at 100 Lake Street, Northbridge, an easy walk from Perth Station and the Perth Busport. Paid street parking runs along Lake Street and the side streets, with paid car parks nearby.

Close by with the dogs

Jack Marks Reserve's fenced dog park in Highgate is a short drive north for an off-lead run, and the Swan River path from Elizabeth Quay makes a good pre-dinner walk. On the same side of town, Braddocks Dispensary covers the coffee end of Lake Street.
