BOOtoo is a casual cafe and wood-fired pizzeria at 274 Bulwer Street, Highgate, sitting directly across from Hyde Park. That location is the whole pitch: it is a natural coffee stop at the start or end of a lap of the park with the dog.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the shaded outdoor seating that faces Bulwer Street and the park, not inside the main room. The alfresco area is reasonably roomy, so there is space to tuck a dog beside your chair. Staff are used to pups coming through; bring your own water bowl to be safe.

Good to know. The kitchen runs brunch and coffee through the day with breakfast until about 2:30pm, then switches to wood-fired pizza from 5:30pm. Plant-based milks are available for coffee and chai. Open daily from 7:30am.

Getting there. Street parking runs along Bulwer Street and the side streets, but it fills on weekends given the Hyde Park draw. If you are already walking the park, it is easiest to arrive on foot.

Nearby with the dogs. Hyde Park is the obvious pairing, straight across the road, with its lake, big figs and shaded paths for an on-leash wander. The leafy Highgate and North Perth streets around it are pleasant walking too.

Best as a weekday morning stop when the outdoor tables are quiet, or an early weekend coffee before the park crowd arrives.
