IL FALCO is a pizzeria in a converted retro warehouse on Scarborough Beach Road in Mount Hawthorn, with dogs welcome on lead in the spacious outdoor alfresco area at the front.

The setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor, picnic-style alfresco section, not inside the main dining room. That alfresco area cannot be booked ahead, tables there are first-come, so turning up early on a busy night matters if you want a spot with the dog. No pet fee. Staff are used to dogs and will generally bring a water bowl over for a well-behaved one.

Known for. Italian-style pizza made with well-sourced ingredients, served in a high-ceilinged, exposed-brick space that reads more industrial-chic than traditional trattoria. It is family-friendly and gets loud and busy on weekend nights.

Getting there. It is at 214 Scarborough Beach Road, on the main Mount Hawthorn strip, served by bus routes running along Scarborough Beach Road. Street parking is tight on the main road at peak times, check the side streets like Killarney Street and Berryman Street, and watch the time-limit signs.

Nearby with the dogs. Braithwaite Park is a short walk away and fully enclosed, a good pre-dinner leg-stretch. Lake Monger Reserve is a few minutes' drive and has longer on-lead and off-lead paths if you want to make more of the outing.

the alfresco tables can't be reserved, so if you're set on eating with your dog, get there right when it opens rather than risk a wait on a packed night.

It trades on Wednesday to Sunday and is closed Monday and Tuesday, so check the day before you go. Weeknights are calmer for a dog that does not love crowds, weekends bring the noise and the queue.
