Great Ocean Rolls is a counter-order banh mi and rice paper roll shop at 4 High Street, Moolap, on the corner of Coppards Road, feeding Geelong's east with fresh Vietnamese street food from 7am to 2pm Monday to Saturday. Dogs are welcome to settle in with you at the outdoor footpath tables, which makes it an easy grab-and-go stop on a bayside run.

The dog setup

Dogs sit with you at the outdoor footpath seating on lead. This is a high-turnover takeaway shop rather than a sit-down restaurant, so the setup is simple: order at the counter, take a footpath table, and keep your dog tucked in beside the chair away from the doorway traffic. Bring your own water bowl, because it is a small, busy operation and staff may not have a spare container free. Indoor space is minimal, so plan for outdoor tables only.

On the plate

The regulars' orders are the roast pork tiger roll and the classic pork banh mi on crisp baguettes, with stir-fry beef, roast chicken, crispy prawn and fully loaded tofu vegan rolls alongside. Bao buns, fresh rice paper rolls and pho round out the menu, and egg and bacon rolls cover the early shift. Value is part of the draw, with generous fillings at cheap prices, and the vegetarian and vegan range is substantial. Sunday is closed, so this is a weekday and Saturday lunch stop.

Getting there and parking

The shop is at the High Street and Coppards Road corner in Moolap, between East Geelong and Point Henry. Free street parking is readily available along High Street, and the entrance is wheelchair accessible.

Close by with the dogs

Stingaree Bay is about two kilometres north towards Point Henry for a flat bayside walk, and the Barwon River trails are a short drive south for a longer run.
