Modus Brewing

Modus Brewing is a big, industrial-style taproom in Mona Vale known for its craft beer lineup and a genuinely relaxed attitude toward dogs. It draws a crowd for the beer as much as the atmosphere, so weekends can get loud, but the space is large enough that a dog on a lead is comfortable.

The dog setup: Dogs are welcome inside the main taproom as well as the covered patio and outdoor seating. Water bowls are usually out. Dogs need to be friendly, on a leash and under control at all times, since the venue does get busy.

Known for: Twenty-plus craft beers on tap, an award-winning core range including its IPAs, and regular live music that pulls in a local Northern Beaches crowd. It is one of the better-known breweries in the area.

Getting there: The brewery is at 14 Harkeith St, Mona Vale. Parking is street-only on Harkeith St and the surrounding residential streets, so allow a short walk if you arrive at a busy time.

Nearby with the dogs: Rowland Reserve is a few minutes away and is one of the better off-leash spots on the Northern Beaches. Mona Vale Beach also has designated dog areas at set times, so check current Northern Beaches Council signage before you go.
