Toro Bar & Kitchen

Toro Bar & Kitchen brings Spanish and Mediterranean share plates to 55 Plaza Parade in central Maroochydore, right on the doorstep of the Sunshine Plaza precinct. The spacious outdoor seating takes dogs on lead, and with service running from late morning to late evening six days a week, it covers everything from long lunches to tapas dinners with the dog at your feet.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor area, which has roomy, comfortable seating and enough space between tables that a settled dog is not squeezed against foot traffic. Keep your dog on lead and under control; the indoor dining room is people only. Pet amenities vary day to day, so pack a water bowl and ask staff, who are generally happy to oblige.

The vibe

The kitchen works in tapas: patatas bravas, corn ribs, croquettes, Spanish meatballs, beef tartare and churros to finish, backed by a strong wine list and cocktails. Regular live music gives the room its energy, which is great for humans and worth planning around for sound-sensitive dogs. Hours: closed Mondays, from 11:30am Tuesday to Thursday until 9pm, to 10pm Friday and Saturday, and to 8pm Sunday.

Getting there and parking

Parking near the venue and Plaza is free and ticketless for up to three hours in the Plaza car parks, which comfortably covers a long tapas lunch. The strip is flat and easy walking with a dog.

Close by with the dogs

Most Plaza shops do not take dogs, so keep strolls to the outdoor strips: the Maroochy River foreshore and Cotton Tree Park are a short drive for an on-lead walk by the water, and remember council rules keep dogs leashed except in signed off-leash zones. For another sit-down dinner nearby, Orleans Restaurant and Bar also welcomes dogs in its outdoor Pavilion.
