Sneaky Baron

Sneaky Baron is a craft-beer bar and smokehouse at 2 Ocean Street, the dining and entertainment strip at the heart of Maroochydore. Dogs are regulars at its outdoor tables, with staff known to bring out water bowls, which makes it an easy beer-and-brisket stop with the dog on the Sunshine Coast's busiest eating street.

The dog setup

Dogs settle at the outdoor seating along the Ocean Street footpath; the indoor bar area is for humans. The tables sit right on the strip, so this suits a dog who is comfortable with passing foot traffic, music and other dogs stopping by. Staff are accommodating and often supply a water bowl, but carrying your own is still wise on a warm afternoon. Pick an end-of-row table if your dog prefers a bit of space.

Worth knowing

The bar runs Wednesday and Sunday from 11:30am to 9pm, Thursday to Saturday from 11:30am until midnight, and closes Monday and Tuesday. The kitchen is built around slow-smoked meats: brisket plates, baby back ribs, wings, loaded burgers and share platters, matched with a rotating craft-beer tap list and cocktails. Live music and midweek lunch deals are part of the draw, and weekends get loud and busy, so a midweek afternoon is the calm window for a sensitive dog.

The address is 2 Ocean Street, Maroochydore. Free street parking and public car parks sit close by around Cornmeal Parade and the side streets, and the venue is an easy walk from central Maroochydore accommodation.

Close by with the dogs

Walk the Ocean Street strip to settle your dog first, then head for the Bradman Avenue leash-free park, an unfenced riverfront stretch a few minutes west where local dogs swim and roam. Cotton Tree Park closer to the river mouth stays on-leash, and Orleans on the same strip is another dog-friendly table option, with Murray's on Sixth covering the morning coffee run.
