Pumpyard Bar & Brewery (now Stony Creek Brewing)

Stony Creek Brewing, the independent brewery that took over the old Pumpyard Bar & Brewery site at 88 Limestone Street, pours its own craft beer a short walk from central Ipswich. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor laneway seating, and the brewery goes further than most: it runs Brew Dog Sundays, a regular event built around dogs and their owners.

The dog setup

The laneway is the dog zone: outdoor seating with room for a dog to settle beside your table, and water bowls that often appear unprompted. Keep leads on. Brew Dog Sunday is the standout, with raffles and pet prizes and the space given over to dog owners, though it is also the busiest. If your dog prefers calm, a Wednesday or Thursday afternoon before the weekend crowd is the better window.

On the plate and in the glass

The tap list rotates through the brewery's own independent beers, from hazy ales to a house-made ginger beer that regulars single out. Pub food is built to pair with it: pizzas, burgers, buffalo wings, share plates and brisket. Hours run Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 9pm, Friday and Saturday to 10pm, and Sunday 11:30am to 5pm with the kitchen winding up around 3pm, so a Brew Dog Sunday lunch needs an early table.

Getting there and parking

Street parking runs along Limestone Street and the surrounding blocks, with paid council car parks nearby as backup. The site sits in central Ipswich, close enough to Queens Park and Limestone Park that a pre-lunch walk is easy to build in.

The North Ipswich off-leash dog park is a short drive over the river for a proper run before beer o'clock, and McSniff Dog Park gives you a second option.
