Sara Drive Dog Park.

Sara Drive Dog Park is a fully fenced, off-leash park in Yamanto on Ipswich's southern edge, open around the clock and doing steady work as a socialising spot for the suburb's dogs. It sits within a council park that also carries a playground and BMX track, so it fits well into a family outing.

The dog setup

The enclosure is fully fenced with open grassy space that suits fetch and flat-out running, and shaded seating nearby for owners. Leash up on the way in and out, keep your dog under effective voice control inside, and close gates securely behind you. Under Ipswich City Council rules, any dog showing aggression needs to be leashed and taken straight out, and picking up waste is a legal obligation; bags are usually stocked on site.

Worth knowing

The gate area bunches up with leashed dogs coming and going at busy times, so give it space if your dog is nervous. Sunday afternoons and Thursday mornings and evenings are the peak windows; Tuesday afternoons and Saturday mornings are calmer if your dog needs a gentle introduction. The park has a wheelchair-accessible entrance and parking.

Getting there and parking

The park is in Yamanto, off Warwick Road (A15), roughly 10 to 15 minutes from Ipswich CBD via the Cunningham Highway. Free parking is available nearby, and local buses run along Warwick Road with a short walk in. Yamanto Central shopping centre is a couple of minutes away if you need supplies.

While you're out there

For a second fenced option nearby, the Pebbles Park Fenced Dog Park at Ripley is a short drive west, and Little Piggy Cafe there does dog-friendly coffee. The Yamanto Tavern is in the suburb for a meal stop.
