The Laneway Pink Cantina

A small, family-run Mexican bar and eatery off Maroondah Highway, reached through a walkway in central Healesville. It earns its place here on the covered garden courtyard, which is where dogs go, set among old brick walls and greenery and comfortable across a range of weather.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the covered courtyard, not in the small indoor room. The area is partly covered, so it holds up if the weather turns. Water bowls are provided and staff often hand out treats.

Good to know. The kitchen runs authentic Mexican snacks across brunch, lunch and dinner, with a good cocktail list and gin and vodka tasting paddles distilled next door.

Getting there. It sits in a walkway off the main street, so look for the entrance rather than a highway frontage. Street parking is on Maroondah Highway and the side streets behind the shops, and it gets busy; the venue is an easy walk from most of central Healesville.

Park once and wander: the town centre is walkable with the dog, and the riverside and reserve walks are a short hop for a leg-stretch afterwards.
