Glasshouse Tavern is a renovated country pub on Reed Street in the heart of Glass House Mountains, just off Steve Irwin Way. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor, undercover alfresco area, which is the reason this one is worth knowing about if you are travelling through with a dog on a leash.

Dog setup. Dogs are permitted in the covered outdoor dining area only, not indoors. They need to be well-behaved and kept on a leash the whole time. The area is spacious and light, but bring your own water bowl rather than relying on staff to have one on hand. If you are travelling with a larger dog, it is worth calling ahead to check table space.

Known for. Casual modern Australian pub food (think brisket burgers, beef rib, calamari and steak), a lively open-plan renovated space, and regular live music.

Getting there. Free private parking is available on-site, with easy access from Steve Irwin Way in the township centre.

Nearby with the dogs. Glass House Mountains District Park on Page Street has a fully fenced off-leash area with shade and seating, a short drive away. Mount Ngungun walking track (on-leash) is nearby for something more active.

When to go: weekday lunches are quieter if you want the alfresco area to yourself; weekends bring the live music crowd, so book ahead if you want a table with the dog.
