Alfresco's Garden Cafe

Alfresco's Garden Cafe sits at 1381 Eumundi Noosa Road, just outside the main Eumundi town centre, and it is one of the hinterland's most reliable tables for owners dining with a dog. The garden setting does the work: shaded outdoor seating and an undercover deck ringed by greenery, with open-style dining that makes settling a leash beside the table easy. It opens 7am daily, running to 5pm Monday to Thursday and on weekends, and to 8pm on Fridays.

Dogs are welcome across the outdoor garden and deck area on a leash. Staff are known to bring out a water bowl, but on a hot Queensland day carry your own as insurance. Outdoor heaters and blankets take the edge off cooler mornings, so the garden works year-round. Live music runs on Friday afternoons and Sunday lunch sessions, which is great atmosphere but can be loud for a noise-shy dog, so weekday mornings are the quiet window.

The menu is modern Mediterranean and Australian, with breakfast until noon and a lunch menu drawing on French, Italian, Spanish and Greek cooking. Eggs benedict is a regular order and portions run generous, with vegetarian options covered. There is a licensed bar with European beers and wine, a daily burger and beer deal, and a 3pm to 5pm happy hour with five-dollar beer and wine specials.

Getting there and market days

Free on-site parking is the quiet advantage here: on Wednesday and Saturday market days, street parking near the Eumundi Markets fills fast, so the car park saves you a long walk with a dog in tow. The markets themselves, at 80 Memorial Drive, allow leashed dogs and even scatter water bowls around, though Saturday crowds are heavy and the Wednesday morning session is the calmer outing.
