Peregian Springs Fenced Dog Park

Peregian Springs Fenced Dog Park sits on The Avenue, opposite the duck pond and playground, and it is fully enclosed, so it is one of the few spots on this stretch of the Sunshine Coast where you can genuinely let the lead go and relax.

The rules. The park uses a double-gated entry system: close the first gate before opening the second so nothing bolts while you're getting your dog in or out. Dogs need to be under effective voice control even though the whole area is off-leash, and any dog showing aggression should be leashed and taken out of the enclosure straight away. Children should be supervised the whole time, and you're expected to clean up after your dog immediately using the bins provided.

What's there. Two interconnected fenced zones, established gardens, open grassy patches and shaded areas with bench seating. Water stations and bowls are on site, so you don't need to carry your own, and there are public toilets nearby. The entrance and parking are wheelchair accessible.

Getting there. Free on-street parking runs along The Avenue, and the park connects straight into Peregian Springs' walking and bike path network if you're coming on foot or by bike. By public transport, TransLink buses 620, 626 and 627 stop in Peregian Springs, a short walk from the park.

When to go. Locals say the park gets busiest on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, late Friday afternoons and Saturday evenings, so aim for Tuesday nights or Sunday mornings if your dog prefers it quiet. After heavy sub-tropical rain the grassed and mulched areas can turn muddy, so keep a towel in the car for the trip home.
