Wharf One

Wharf One Food & Wine sits on the Darwin Waterfront at 19 Kitchener Drive, looking over the marina and lagoon from a relaxed wood-grill dining room with a big alfresco deck. It is one of the clearly pet-positive venues in the precinct: dogs are openly welcomed in the outdoor seating, and the staff treat that as routine rather than an exception.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the alfresco area only; the indoor restaurant stays dog-free. Staff will bring a dish of water on request, so you do not need to haul one in, though a bowl you know your dog uses never hurts. Ask for a table near the edge of the boardwalk so there is room for your dog to lie down out of the server path, and keep them leashed and settled, because the deck gets busy around sunset service.

The vibe

The kitchen is fire-led: wood-grill cooking over seasonal Australian produce, local seafood including barramundi, beef brisket and carpaccio, and a share-style suckling pig feast if you order ahead. Lunch runs from noon daily, happy hour starts at 4pm and dinner from 5pm, wrapping up around 9pm. The dress code is casual and the crowd mixes families, harbour-side walkers and waterfront apartment locals, so a well-mannered dog on the deck fits right in.

Getting there and parking

The Kitchener Drive multi-storey car park is right in the precinct, ticketless via number-plate recognition with the first two hours free, which covers a long lunch. Fort Hill car park is the alternative, and precinct meters use the PayStay app. From the car park it is a short walk down to the boardwalk, with the venue roughly midway along Kitchener Drive.

While you're out there

The Waterfront lagoon and wave pool foreshore makes an easy leash-on loop before or after eating, and the rest of the Darwin dining map is close: Bustard Town in the city, Perk and Palate for coffee, and Fiddlers Irish Pub for a pub counter. The Foreshore at Nightcliff is the sunset option on the other side of the bay.
