Zambrero Aspley

Zambrero Aspley is a quick-service Mexican spot in the Aspley Central shopping centre on Gympie Road, north Brisbane, built around made-to-order burritos, bowls, tacos and nachos. Dogs are welcome at the footpath tables outside, so with a dog along this is a grab-and-sit stop rather than a lingering dinner.

The dog setup

Dogs can settle at the outdoor and footpath tables right outside the store, on leash by your chair while you order at the counter. Indoors is for assistance dogs only, in line with food-safety rules. The footpath is flat and wide enough for prams and wheelchairs, and it is a throughfare, so a dog comfortable with passing shoppers will settle best. Bring your own water bowl; the busy footpath rarely has one out.

Worth knowing

The menu is heavy on customisation: burritos, bowls, quesadilla stacks and nachos with slow-cooked beef, pulled pork, chicken or vegetarian fillings, and the chain runs its Plate 4 Plate program donating a meal for every one sold. Reviewers consistently call out the celiac-friendly handling and the friendly, quick staff, which matters when you are holding a lead at the counter. Doors run 10am to 9:30pm most days, stretching to 10pm Fridays and Saturdays.

Getting there and parking

The store sits on Gympie Road with the shopping centre's shared parking, which is ample and free. Frequent bus routes run along Gympie Road, so arriving without the car is realistic too. Off-peak is the calm window for a relaxed footpath seat.

Close by with the dogs

Marchant Park Fenced Dog Park is minutes away, so the obvious run is an off-lead play first, then a burrito at the tables outside. For a sit-down coffee with the dog another day, the cafes around Aspley's village strips fill the gap.
