Aroona Takeaway Fish & Chips

Aroona Takeaway Fish & Chips is a locally owned fish and chip shop at 132 Beerburrum Street, Aroona, a few minutes drive from Caloundra's beaches. The kitchen opens early for breakfast, with a bacon and egg roll and coffee special, then runs through the day on fresh-cooked fish, calamari, chips with chicken salt and serious burgers, including a fish burger with the lot (beetroot included). It is a takeaway counter with footpath tables out front, so a leashed dog can wait with you while the order comes up.

Dogs are welcome at the footpath tables outside; there is no indoor seating at all, this is a takeaway shop rather than a cafe with a dining room. Bring your own water bowl because none is guaranteed on site, and keep your dog leashed given the shop fronts directly onto Beerburrum Street traffic. The tables sit close to the kerb, so a dog that settles under the chair works far better than one that surfs the footpath.

Hours run Wednesday to Friday from 5:30am to 6:30pm and Saturday to Sunday from 8:30am to 6:30pm, with Monday and Tuesday closed, so this is a midweek-and-weekend stop. A quiet weekday lunch avoids the Beerburrum Street traffic and gives the footpath tables more room, while summer weekend evenings build a post-beach queue that is not much fun for a waiting dog.

Getting there and parking

There is onsite and street parking directly out front on Beerburrum Street, easy in and out for a quick collection with a dog in the car. Aroona sits on the Caloundra side of the Currimundi boundary, close enough that the beach and the fish and chips make one loop.

Close by with the dogs

The natural pairing is water: Currimundi Beach Access Point 255-262 Dog Off Leash Area is the off-leash beach run before the chips, and Ridgehaven Park Fenced Dog Park is the fully fenced alternative inland. For coffee the next morning, Penny G's Coffee is just down the road in Currimundi.
