The short version. Snapper & Slice is a family-run takeaway at 103 Esplanade, up at Snapper Point, doing fish and chips, pizza and schnitzels with a view over the water and the beach across the road.

The dog setup. This is a takeaway, so dogs do not go inside. The easy play is to order at the counter or through their app, then take your parcel across to the grassy bank or the sand opposite. There is some outdoor seating that comes out in warmer weather. Water bowls are not advertised, so bring your own.

Good to know. It is known for crispy battered fish, quick friendly service and its Snapper Point outlook, and it runs the odd community event like an Easter block party. Reviews are mixed on consistency, so it is a casual feed rather than a destination meal.

Getting there. There is free off-street parking plus Esplanade street parking, which gets busy through summer. It sits near the northern drive-on beach access point.

Make a day of it. The beach is directly across the road and you can drive onto the sand just south of here, which makes a picnic with the dog simple. A park with a playground and barbecues sits about 500 metres north. Check current council signs for on-leash and off-leash zones before letting your dog run.

Best grabbed early evening for a beach picnic, before the summer parking crush sets in.
